Enterprise Console: features in versions 3 and 3.1
This article describes the new features in Enterprise Console versions 3 and 3.1.
Features in version 3.0
The dashboard
The dashboard provides an at-a-glance view of the network's security status. It displays warning or critical status indicators, based on the percentage of managed computers that have outstanding alerts or errors, or on the time since the last update from Sophos.
Synchronization with Active Directory
You can synchronize Enterprise Console groups with Active Directory containers. New computers and groups discovered in Active Directory will be copied into Enterprise Console automatically. You can also choose to protect discovered Windows 2000 or later workstations automatically.
Email alerting
You can set up email alerts to be sent to your chosen recipients when a warning or critical level has been exceeded for a dashboard status indicator. You can also set up email alerts to be sent to your chosen recipients about new computers and groups discovered during synchronizations with Active Directory. If you choose to protect computers in synchronized groups automatically, you can also set up alerts about automatic protection failures.
Full system scan
You can perform a full system scan of selected Windows computers immediately, without waiting for the next scheduled scan. Note, however, that only Windows computers running Sophos Anti-Virus 7 or later can perform immediate full system scans originated from the console.
Sophos Network Communications Report
Sophos Network Communications Report presents an overview of the current state of communications between a computer and Enterprise Console, shows possible problem areas and, if a problem is detected, remedial actions.
Managing Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux
Now Sophos Enterprise Console can monitor and manage computers running Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux, version 6.
Features in version 3.1
Third-party security software removal
Third-party security software removal allows you to remove the third-party anti-virus software installed on your network before installing Sophos software. This includes anti-virus, firewall, product suites and product update software. For a current list of the software that can be removed before installation, please see: http://www.sophos.com/products/enterprise/endpoint/security-and-control/8.0/management/removal-tool.html.
The third-party software is removed using the 'Protect computers' wizard in Enterprise Console, or by using the Endpoint Security and Control standalone installer.
Network Access Control (NAC)
Sophos Network Access Control (NAC) (for Windows 2000 and later) protects the company network from non-compliant or untrusted computers. It controls access based on security policies set and controlled by the administrator and enforces compliance with the policies.
The NAC server can be installed on Windows 2003. The NAC Agent can be installed on client computers running Windows 2000 and above.
